SAHA Neighborhood News: Fall 2017

Breaking Ground: Housing News

Thank you to the more than 150 friends, neighbors and supporters who came out to join us at the grand opening for Harper Crossing in Berkeley. This community is a great example of how giving priority to local residents can help keep seniors close to their communities. Read about the event in The Daily Cal.

Construction is in full swing! New homes are under construction in Antioch, Berkeley, Oakland and American Canyon, with more coming down the pipeline later this year and next.  And we are working our way through the permitting process for projects in Sonoma, Napa, Pleasanton,Oakland and San Jose.

After many years of advocacy, we let out a big cheer when, on September 29, Governor Brown signed a comprehensive legislative package to increase the State's housing supply and affordability.  The 15 bills will provide funding for affordable housing, reduce regulations, boost construction, and strengthen existing housing laws which will help us fulfull our mission.  Learn more here.

SAHA's Lakeside Senior Apartments was featured in two publications this summer:  AARP's annual "Where We Live: Communities for All Ages" guidebook for seniors. (Click here to download the free guide) and "Design for Good: A New Era of Architecture" by Island Press.
