A groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday celebrated the kickoff of construction on a new 33-unit affordable housing complex at 811 San Pablo Ave. in Pinole, according to the City of Pinole.

Once completed, the building will provide housing for veterans and their families. It’s expected to be ready to accept occupants by the Fall/Winter 2024 timeframe.

The project is being developed by Satellite Affordable Housing Associates – SAHA (SAHA), with the City of Pinole being a major funder by providing the land for it and loans for construction. Along with the City, other major funders of the project include Contra Costa County, the Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa, the California Department of Housing & Community Development and The Home Depot Foundation.

SAHA’s states its mission as looking to provide quality affordable homes and services that empower people and strengthen neighborhoods.

While the waitlist for 811 San Pablo Ave. housing units is currently closed, those interested in units can click here for notifications. Project officials said they will notify subscribers when the waitlist opens up.
